Sports injury Rehabilitation:

Sports physiotherapy is a branch of physical therapy that is geared towards both athletes and casual players who have suffered an injury or ongoing problem. It is a specialized form of physiotherapy that is designed to help with injuries or conditions occurred during sports activities. The modalities include hands-on treatment and rehabilitation. Whether you’re a professional athlete or at the beginning of your athletic journey, sports physiotherapy can be a suitable form of treatment for you.

Sports activities, whether professional or otherwise, can cause muscle strain or even serious injuries. If these problems are not given proper medical attention and treatment, they can worsen. However, these unwanted injuries can now be alleviated and prevented from happening again through the application of sports physiotherapy. You can maximize your performance and prevent future injuries through various techniques and exercises. Sports physiotherapy is meant to help you get back on track as soon as possible in a safe, secure, and effective way. The treated conditions through sports physiotherapy differ from the nerve, ligament, or muscle injuries to other musculoskeletal disorders

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy:

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is a specialist physical therapy treatment for patients who are exhibiting the symptoms of a musculoskeletal disorder or who are undergoing treatment for a musculoskeletal disorder. Musculoskeletal physiotherapy aims to help the patient recover from their condition more quickly through regular treatment sessions and to develop coping strategies to aid the patient during the recovery process and prevent secondary problems from occurring. Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy involves the treatment of disorders that affect how you move – how your muscles and joints work together. Whether it’s your feet, ankles and legs, your hands, arms, and shoulders, or your backs and necks an injury that makes it painful or difficult to move can have a big impact on your life.

Treatment is tailored to the individual based on their initial assessment. Exercise plans and advice are routinely given following treatment and the number of treatments will vary depending on the patient’s progress in recovery. Musculoskeletal physiotherapists are specialists in assessing and treating patients with musculoskeletal disorders such as tendonitis or carpal tunnel syndrome. Musculoskeletal physiotherapists have advanced training in treatments and techniques specifically applicable to musculoskeletal disorders. Most musculoskeletal physiotherapists find their patients suffer specifically from muscle and joint problems, often causing pain in the back and neck.

They are experts in the field of physical therapy and use a combination of manual therapy techniques, exercise prescription, and patient education to help individuals recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and improve their overall physical well-being.

Neuro Rehabilitation

Neurological physiotherapy involves the treatment of people with movement and function disorders that have originated from problems within the body’s nervous and neuromuscular systems. These conditions often manifest themselves as muscle weakness, poor balance, and coordination, uncontrolled muscle spasm, tremors, loss of function, and decreased sensation. Neurological Physiotherapy is able to kick-start the message pathways that your brain is struggling to use, to make new pathways through repetitive actions and exercises.

By focusing on all aspects of a person’s functional independence and well-being, Neurorehabilitation offers a series of therapies from medications, physiotherapy, speech and swallow therapy, psychological therapies, occupational therapies, teaching or re-training patients on mobility skills, communication processes, and other aspects of that person’s daily routine. Neurorehabilitation also provides focuses on nutrition, psychological, and creative parts of a person’s recovery.

Pediatric Rehabilitation:

Pediatric rehabilitation is goal directed, multidisciplinary care, which focuses on addressing activity limitations and/or participation restrictions a child or young person may be experiencing. Pediatric physiotherapists help children to achieve optimal physical development. They have specialist knowledge in the movement, development, and conditions that are likely to affect the baby and growing child and treat from 1-day-old babies to adolescents. Treatment may involve soft tissue massage, mobilization, stretching, specific therapeutic exercises, and posture education.

The treatment programs are aimed to optimize the health, well-being, and abilities of each child to enable them to move and participate in everyday activities, like playing, learning, going to school, and being part of a family and community. Children with developmental problems may have difficulty reaching his/her developmental milestones by a time or age that is expected. Developmental milestones are tasking most children learn or develop that commonly appear in certain age ranges. For example, head control, rolling, crawling, walking, and talking. Physiotherapy treatment for children with neurological or developmental problems will help to maximize their potential and promote physical development to reach specific milestones (e.g., rolling, crawling, and walking).

Treatment includes:

  • Stretching
  • Strengthening
  • Re-educating normal movement patterns
  • Balance training
  • Improving standing and quality of walking
  • Advice and support for parents and or teachers
  • Milestone development

Women’s Health Physiotherapy:

Pregnancy is an especially important time you should be considering physiotherapy. This includes prenatal, during pregnancy, and postnatal to help relieve any discomfort or pain. A lot of pregnant women experience lower back pain which can impact their ability to get a full night’s sleep and perform daily tasks. Physiotherapy is an effective way to manage any lower back aches and pains through stabilization exercises that focus on the muscles surrounding your spine. Physiotherapists can also help in controlling and reducing back pain for pregnant and non-pregnant women. Pelvic Floor Therapy is probably the most important service we can offer women before, during, and after pregnancy. This type of physiotherapy focuses on treating the muscles in the base of the abdomen that attach to the pelvis that support bladder, bowel, and uterus functions for women.

Prenatal pelvic floor physiotherapy will help prepare your body for labour and limit any damage to the pelvic area. Postnatal treatment is also important to help strengthen your potentially stretched, strained, and often torn pelvic muscles. Both pre- and post-childbirth, pelvic floor treatment can prevent urinary incontinence and lower back pain. In general, physiotherapy is a great and safe option for pregnant women to stay active which is important for an easier delivery.

Some of the conditions treated by women’s health specialist include:

  • Loss of bladder control, stress urinary incontinence or mixed incontinence
  • Loss of bowel control
  • Constipation
  • Pelvic floor muscle weakness, tightness, or pain
  • Pain and dysfunction during and following pregnancy
  • Pre-and post-partum low back pain and general deconditioning
Pre & Post op Rehabilitation:

Pre-surgery rehabilitation allows patients to prepare for and recuperate from surgery safely under the supervision of a physical therapist. Physical therapy prior to surgery helps reduce pain and inflammation. It improves joint mobility and range of motion to prepare clients for a more successful surgical outcome. Pre-surgical rehabilitation is an individualized exercise conditioning program that trains the muscles in advance for the exercises they will need to do post-surgery. Pre-surgical rehabilitation helps patients to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, increase stamina, enhance overall fitness, restore range of motion and regain strength and flexibility in the joints and muscles near the injured area. Pre-surgical physical therapy leads to faster recovery with better outcomes.

Post-surgical rehabilitation is crucial to regaining pain-free function and returning to daily activities safely and more quickly. Post-operative physical therapy safely eases patients back into daily activity and regular exercise. Our physical therapists perform a thorough evaluation post-surgery and develop a customized treatment plan to minimize adverse effects from surgery and restore normal movement, flexibility, and function. Post-surgery rehabilitation helps patients to manage post-operative pain, regain motion and strength, decrease pain, stiffness, and swelling and return to their daily activities more quickly. Post-surgical rehabilitation can take several months and it is essential to begin physical therapy shortly after surgery so that the joint can heal properly and minimize scar tissue development. Physical therapy following surgery will lead to a faster recovery.

Condition treated:

  • ACL reconstruction
  • Total knee replacement
  • Total hip replacement
  • Shoulder arthroplasty
  • Knee surgeries
  • Cardiac surgery etc.
Vestibular Rehabilitation:

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized form of therapy intended to alleviate both the primary and secondary problems caused by vestibular disorders. It is an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, and/or imbalance and falls. For most people with a vestibular disorder, the deficit is permanent because the amount of restoration of vestibular function is very small. However, after the vestibular system damage, people can feel better and function can return through compensation. This occurs because the brain learns to use other senses (vision and somatosensory, i.e., body sense) to substitute for the deficient vestibular system. The health of particular parts of the nervous system (brainstem and cerebellum, visual, and somatosensory sensations) is important in determining the extent of recovery that can be gained through compensation. vestibular rehabilitation has been very promising for people experiencing symptoms of dizziness, pressure in the ear, nausea, ringing in the ears, chronic headaches, or imbalance. In most cases, if patients continue to perform the exercises they have learned, balance, and dizziness problems decrease significantly or completely disappear

Geriatric Rehabilitation:

Geriatric rehabilitation covers a wide area of problems concerning the elderly. There are many conditions that affect people as they grow older and include but are not limited to the following: arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, hip and joint replacement, balance disorders incontinence, etc. Geriatric physical therapists specialize in providing therapy for such conditions and ailments. Physiotherapists play a key role in enabling older people to use a number of the body’s systems fully to enhance mobility and independence. Physiotherapists can make a difference by helping older people to be comfortable and pain-free.

Geriatric rehabilitation is a proven means for older adults to improve mobility and balance, build strength, boost confidence in their physical abilities, and nonetheless, remain active over years. However, some of the work of geriatric physiotherapy is not aimed at returning patients to their earlier states of health. The most important goals are to be able to function at their best abilities. Doing everyday tasks and living an unconfined life are valuable assets. At the same time, geriatric physiotherapy can have a profound effect on a person’s ability to enjoy physical activities. Golf is an activity that many seniors enjoy. It can be a very hazardous sport for the elderly if they are not in a condition to play. It does have many health benefits, too.

Cardiac rehabilitation:

Cardiac rehabilitation is done for patients who have undergone cardiac surgery. Cardiac rehabilitation helps to enhance cardiovascular fitness and independence by designing a graduated exercise program to enhance overall functionality.

Cardiac rehab helps patients of all ages both men and women, with mild to severe heart problems. Patients suffering from the following ailments can benefit from it

  • Coronary artery disease,
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery,
  • Heart attack,
  • Heart failure,
  • Angioplasty and stents,
